Prodigal House was founded as a therapeutic community in
1972 to address the needs of returning Viet Nam Veterans who
had alcohol and drug problems. We soon became a leader in
extended care chemical dependency treatment for male veterans.
In 1988 the Halfway House Program was started, and in 1992 it
was decided we could better serve our population by focusing
strictly on the halfway house modality and the extended care
program was discontinued.
In 1997, for many different reasons,
we decided to open our doors to non-veterans and became
open to the general public although we still give Veterans admission preference.
Today Prodigal House offers many different services to better serve the needs of chemically dependent men. Included are residential and non-residential treatment, housing, a wide variety of groups and educational assistance just to name some of what we have. |
